To his credit, MBT did lead a comeback in that 4th quarter to tie the game. I really like MBT, but as I said when Jones signed him and made him the starter, it wasn’t the right move. Ford led that team to a strong finish in 2023 and IMO deserved to be named the starter rather than bring in a 35 year old that was out of the league for a year. Jones was in “save his ass” mode and like everything else since his return to Edmonton, he failed.kellynjk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 11:22 pm Apparently the crowd in Edmonton was chanting "we want Tre Ford" in the fourth quarter of last night's game, so it will be interesting to see if he now gets a chance to play in upcoming games.
Glad that they finally fired Chris Jones - don't know why he was considered some kind of great football mind? Jones looked angry and frustrated after Bede's kickoff went out of bounds, but I agree with others have said that it was a bad coaching decision, although Bede didn't have a great night (missed a field goal).

I still remember when Tre got the Elks their first win last year. Jones was standing on the sidelines at the end of the game as if he was thinking "Damn I'm good!'
Re: Elks lose again
Totally agree with everything thing you've said here. MBT has played well, despite the losses, but Tre Ford deserved to be named the starter this year after his performance at the end of last season!AngeloV wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 10:34 amTo his credit, MBT did lead a comeback in that 4th quarter to tie the game. I don't know if MBT has done anything to lose his job, but you almost have to see if Ford can lead them to a couple of wins. Perhaps, Ford motivates the defense and specials to be better.AngeloV wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 10:34 amTo his credit, MBT did lead a comeback in that 4th quarter to tie the game. Re: Elks lose again
Exactly, there's no reason not to let Tre Ford start for a couple of games, maybe just to change the mood and dynamic of the team.
Re: Elks lose again
The thing is, they aren’t winning a championship and very likely with this start not making the playoffs. It’s useless to start MBT in that situation and have Ford sitting on the bench. At the very least, they should play both guys, but I’m not sure MBT would be open to that. I’m sure the only thing that brought him back to the CFL was a starter’s job. Doubt he would have come back in any other situation

Hmmm, could MBT return to TO if something strange happens with Kelly's return?AngeloV wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:56 pmThe thing is, they aren’t winning a championship and very likely with this start not making the playoffs. Re: Elks lose again
Would MBT even want to come back? A lot of Argo fans didn't like him and they made sure he knew it, not that I condone verbally abusing your own QB. That's just idiotic.
Also, he disappeared immediately after the Grey Cup and didn't bother to celebrate with the team.
I was wrong about him returning to the CFL, but I don't see him coming back to the Argos unless if they are willing to pay him more than any other team.
