Prediction time.
Should the Argos beat the Elks next week, I predict Chris Jones gets the ax going into their bye week. Gerry Simon takes over as GM and Jarius Jackson as HC. That is their way around the management cap.
Also, Tre Ford gets inserted back into the starting role.
As many know, I am a fan of MBT. But I also said that it was a dumb signing for the Elks. Ford needs to play. MBT isn’t a QB that can carry a bad team. He’s a QB that can lead a good team. Ford can make a bad team better because of his off script plays. It also will help mend fences between the team and Ford, and possibly lead to an extension before he becomes a free agent.

Re: Elks lose again
So what would become of MBT? Outright release?
Re: Elks lose again
Probably not. He’s making good money, but not crazy money.
Re: Elks lose again
Not after 3 games.
Re: Elks lose again
MBT was indeed surrounded with some good talent and a very astute OC in Ryan Dinwiddie which certainly helped his cause with the Argonauts, in Edmonton he has Jarious Jackson as his OC, enough said.AngeloV wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 12:29 am Prediction time.

I think the bigger problem is Chris Jones than Jarius Jackson. He’s had 3 years to address the o- line but instead pays 300k for a great receiver that apparently his new QB doesn’t like to throw to.

And why is Loucheiz Purifoy returning missed field goals?AngeloV wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 1:57 pmARGO57 wrote: MBT was indeed surrounded with some good talent and a very astute OC in Ryan Dinwiddie which certainly helped his cause with the Argonauts, in Edmonton he has Jarious Jackson as his OC, enough said.

Re: Elks lose again
im not sure about mbt hitting the bench this early, buti could definitely see chris jones being shown the door. he would be 8-31 as the elks coach if they lose next week
Re: Elks lose again
If he’s shown the door, I would bet Ford gets inserted as the starter. That is the only way he won’t walk at season’s end. You start him, hope he does well and extend him. I can’t see any other scenario in which he stays.
Re: Elks lose again
I don't know how long the Elks can keep Jones around. From the questionable deciosion (IMO) to bring in MBT and anoint him the starter and sit Ford, to another 0-5 start.
Bede is taking a lot of blame for that kickoff that went out of bounds, but to me, in a tie game if you have a kicker that can reach the endzone, where any thing can happen, and he already had a kickoff single tonight, you ask him to kick the crap out of the ball, not kick a knuckler. Bounces on a knuckler are unpredictable. That was a BAD coaching decision.
