I could do without all the pounding music between plays. I remember going to sporting events and actually being able to have a conversation with the guy beside me.
Man, go to a game sometime at Tim Hortons Field. It is punishingly loud, and they blast music
at the same time as someone is talking to (yelling at) the spectators. It's painful. BMO is a sea of tranquillity by comparison.
Not sure why they insist on that garbage; some bean-counter in the organization told them it's hip & necessary ?
Made even worse inside an arena at hockey games - can't stand it.

I believe that you can blame the NBA for that. The NBA started becoming popular in the 1980s when they started blaring music throughout the game and other sports leagues decided to copy that.

I'm glad they didn't play Sweet Caroline on Saturday night. The whole nonsense of playing that song late game is a Boston Bruins thing, and I personally cannot stand it. It's slow and has no soul whatsoever.
When it comes to late game songs that bring the energy, nothing beats Shout by The Isley Brothers. I propose the Argos play that instead of Sweet Caroline.
I hate Sweet Caroline. Sue me. I don't care.
I like Neil Diamond but I really don't care for that song.

The binoculars that held 8 ounces of booze in each side were ingenious!
Those were call "Barnoculars"...I had a set.
I still have them; brought them out to a Panda Game a few years back and some kids in the crowd were laughing their heads off. Might break them out for the last RedBlacks game in Oct. (or possibly their home play-off game ?)
Classic OV....simply Classic! Break out the 2x8's! Wish I still had mine !

Something was just off-kilter with the game day audio at the last game. Not only was music playing over top of announcements, and one of the dance groups had to perform with music that was barely audible (and, thankfully, they got a do-over), but we had a pre-recorded "O Canada".
I can recall the odd time when a cheerleader was pressed into service to sing the anthem (which would make you wonder "OK, who cancelled?") but I'm hard pressed to remember a pre-recorded anthem.

The noise issue is something that has bothered me for a long time, as it lessens my enjoyment of the game day experience. The music seemed even louder on Saturday, so I asked my brother "Is it just me, or is it even worse today?" He said yes. I sometimes wear earplugs (which I did this time) to lower my frustration level and prevent a migraine headache , which I am susceptible to. As soon as there is a stoppage in play, you are bombarded with loud music or the in-game host blaring into a microphone, resulting in what I would call a sensory overload. I went to three games at THF last year with my brother and got to experience the pain Paul mentioned; It is sheer idiocy. Why is this being done? Perhaps it's for the casual/non-football fan who must be "entertained" every second between plays so that they don't get "bored".

I find myself unable to have a conversation with the person in the next seat unless we're both shouting. Nobody expects football to be played in a library, but I'd have to agree, it's getting worse. And labour day at THF was painfully loud too even though we were a long way from the speakers.
My watch is constantly alerting me to dangerously loud volumes. Yeah, I'm more sensitive about my hearing now that I'm older and on the verge of needing hearing aids, and I may have spent too long in front of a brass band encourage them to play louder, but I don't want the young fans to have their hearing wrecked too.
I'm all for the crowd getting loud, of course. Just would like the loudspeakers dialled back a bit. (I'm sure how you feel about this depends on where you're sitting, too.)

With all of the talk of the incessantly loud noise between plays (it even sometimes bothers my son who is just out of his teens), I think that it is time to bring back the Argonotes. How about that Mr. Hayman?

The Argos do a very good job with the production at BMO. They are very good at creating a seamless transition with the music and the crowd going wild. I've been to a few stadiums over the years but the Argos do it all in a way that makes for a very immersive experience.
That said, I cannot disagree with anyone who isn't a fan of the blaring music. It gets really loud. I like the idea of being able to talk to people sitting with me without yelling.
I don't normally deal well with loud and for that reason I do not enjoy concerts. I tough it out for the Argos. My ears are usually sore after a game. I know full well I will have problems with my hearing when I am older.
It is generally not healthy in the long term for people to be over exposed to loud noises.

Hey, ya never know. I keep thinking I need to at least organize an argonotes reunion at one game but we haven't been able to make the timing work out yet.
