Have to confess I was never a big fan of MBT, even with the Argos. I used to find his good and awful tendencies in the same game frustrating (throws 2 interceptions in the first quarter, then trying to make up for it etc.). You could actually see the change in energy of the whole team when Tre Ford stepped in. If they had put Ford in at the beginning of the second half, like they should have, Edmonton might have won the game.

Ford looked impressive and it's absolutely baffling why Edmonton has not played him before now. Plus I notice the same thing about the players, they were so much more excited and engaged when playing with Ford, it made me wonder if the dynamic between MBT and the players is not so positive. Tre Ford should absolutely be starter from here on and I agree that Edmonton should just cut MBT loose - he's 35+ and costing them alot in salary.

It'll be a tough matchup for Ford going into Regina to play the Roughriders, but what do the Elks have to lose? I do feel bad for MBT, by the way, he got put into a tough situation by Jones.

Tough situation, but he didn’t have to jump at it. It was likely the only team guaranteeing him the starters job.

Unfortunately for him he decided to remove himself from the league for a season so teams move on and find other options.

USFL was strictly Saturday and Sunday league so the minimum days between games is 6. Never was there a game 5 days after a previous one. Yes 5 days off between games, but the minimum days from 2 game to another is 6. Practice weeks are also limited on 5 day weeks, as you lose a full practice and only have 2 practices and a walk through instead of the usual 3 and a walk through which is normal be it 6, 7 or more days between games
That's fair. I was off about that.

Did MBT complain in 2022 or 2021 when he was playing for a strong Argos team?

Edmonton had a bye week leading up to the two games and every teams gets 3.

I just don't get willingly participating in something you have a full understanding of, only to call it disgusting afterwards. Makes no sense to me.
He may have complained, but with the lack of media coverage in this market, it may have gone on deaf ears. And to be fair, he complained about it before the Lions game, not just after the loss. He said it going into that game. And to have it happen again so close together obviously really got to him. I complained about the Argos playing 6 days between games against well rested Allouettes and Riders teams in back to back weeks, so I totally get it.

And I will ask again, are his comments more damaging to the league than Kristina Costabile’s and the female Bombers exec regarding Kelly and the Argos? Reputational damage. Executives should understand that.
No. Costabile's comments are obviously far more damaging, but that's a whole other issue...

I will lay off my MBT bashing for now as it is clearly not necessary.

The Elks have announced that Tre Ford will start against Saskatchewan.

MBT is reportedly injured.

And Jarious Jackson came up with a lame excuse that MBT has been battling an injury the last 2 games. Really? Than why not pull him earlier?

I am as skeptical as you are, Angelo, but no proof to back it up.

If you were the incoming new owner(s), would you not want to know what you have at the most important position, most important marketing piece to build your team around. Tre Ford demonstrated last year that he was the only QB capable of winning games for the Elks. This year 0-7.
If you don't play him, and try to develop him, you won't know what to offer him to stay next year. As it is, you have so badly mismanaged him in 2 years that he may not want to sign with you even if you offer him what he wants.
I'm sure the ownership have weighed in, and told coach Tre starts from here on out.

If they don’t give him the proper opportunity, he will definitely not re-sign with them. By starting him now, maybe they can try and extend him during the season, and use some 2024 money on his extension.
