Kelly was very good considering he only had three days of practice under his belt. You want to finish those drives obviously, however if 24/39 for 322 yards is a very good showing.

Defense played quite well after the first quarter.

Rhetorical question: why do I get the feeling that the same individuals who complained about the Rouge that won the game for Toronto are the same people who praised the dribble kick that was successful against Toronto a few weeks ago?

True.

Also, Dinwiddie said post-game that they practise getting a winning rouge both in camp and during the season. Through this practice, they determined that a punt won't work in a situation like last night's, which is what cost the Argos a Grey Cup appearance in 1984. And, yes, I am still bitter about that decision from Obie.

I was trying to engage on Twitter and Insagram with the rouge complainers as much as I could post-game. All told, IF the rouge was altered, I wouldn't be upset if it was rewarded only in the case of a "returnable" ball. But the more I think of it, it would probably just lead to a whole series of debates like anything else. I'm good with it as-is. I recall a game against BC either last year or the year before where BC forced overtime at home by scoring a single on a missed field goal. I believe Dinwiddie (like Mace) called an inappropriate time out to stop the clock when he shouldn't have. It worked against us, but pretty sure the Argos prevailed in the extra frame.

The rouge is a reward for hard-earned field position. Had Saskatchewan kept the Argos from gaining yards after punting the ball away, a deeper field goal attempt would have given their returner the chance to take it out of the end zone on a miss.

The rule really doesn't bother me, even if it happens against the Argos.

You have to protect your endzone. It's as simple as that. Stop the drive or block the kick.

Exactly. Had Saskatchewan not called a timeout before the ball was snapped in that final series, they would have had a first down with lots of breathing room.

The rouge is part of the Canadian game and is part of what makes it unique. It's all about field position and making plays.

When I look back over Dinwiddie's tenure, he seems to have consistently struggled with his play calling when the ball is inside the 5 yard line. Don't know why. But there is no way that they should be denied the way they were last night.

Teams who are more successful at short yardage seem to employ a big, strong QB like Stevens or Streveler, or let a FB take a direct snap. Maybe we have to do something like that. Because watching that last night was brutal.

Compared to Nathan Rourke's debut, Kelly was lights out better. A couple of his deep throws were just outstanding. So much fun to watch.

The rouge rules, as they are, are perfect.

Yes, Dinwiddie messed up with clock management in his rookie year as head coach (the home game against BC that year is a prime example), just as Mace has this year. You learn from it and move forward.

I have zero problem with the rouge rules and I say that whether the Argos win or lose by the rules. The Argos lost a heartbreaker at home to BC during that horrible 2019 season when BC's FG kicker missed a FG that Chris Rainey was unable to corral at the back of the endzone. The biggest issues in that game were a horrible kickoff by the Argos' American kicker that went out of bounds after MBT had just led the team to a game-tying drive. The defence then allowed BC to drive the ball sufficiently to kick that game-winning rouge. The Argos' kicker was released a day or two later.

The rouge isn't a reward for failure; it is a reward for good field position.

I’m pretty happy with his performance. I like the confidence. 3rd and 15 was money. Game over if any of our other QB’s tried that throw. My favourite pass was the Daniels’ drop. What a laser. Guys have to get used to some heat with a proper arm in there. It’s also nice to have the opportunity to take 50/50 shots now. Anything downfield is nice, TBH. Work to do and Kelly will get better with this group. Exciting times ahead.
