Canadian football is more complex than American football: much larger playing surface; one extra player on the field per side; no wimpy fair catches or kick-offs that easily sail thru the end zone for a boring touch-back.
Harder job for Canadian refs.
Refs in all leagues make mistakes; the NFL as much so as the CFL.

I would wholeheartedly disagree, the NFL has its share of bad calls but CFL officials seem to embarrass themselves almost every game.
The lack of consistency with PI calls are a major issue in the CFL.
Only because of the current situation. That Saints debacle actually brought forth PI replay in the NFL. It was so bad, much like we are experiencing now in the CFL, that they scrapped it a year later. I think that’s the CFL’s future too. You can’t constantly freeze every video frame to then make another judgmental decision on a judgmental call already made. It’s such a buzzkill to the fans and the game, I would rather live and deal with a marginal wrong call, than this mess.

Some good points, OV. Adeboboye was a game-time decision but I don't think he played. He would have been a good option on those plays.
I am still partial to running your regular offence in those situations rather than bringing everyone into the box.
Howard Berger was so upset with the Command Centre that he says on Twitter that he is done with the CFL. Seems like an overreaction to me.
Every league has officiating issues. Every one. Does the command centre need to get better ? YES!!!! I'm tired of people passing on the CFL and using officiating as an excuse. That was entertaining last night, and in my humble opinion blows away what passes for entertaining at Rogers Centre and a Blue Jay's game. My accounting for taste must be our in left field because I cannot understand why more people would rather watch the Jay's this year than Argos.
Now I'm not going to look this up so my details may be fuzzy, but I seem to recall the New Orleans Saints being eliminated from the playoffs after the refs missed a blatant PI call in 2018 or 2019? I remember my jaw hit the floor when a coworker showed me a replay of it.
And then there was Bottlegate in Cleveland. The refs made a ruling that went back two or three plays, which caused a riot.
CFL officiating is no where even close to as bad as NFL officiating. It's not even debatable.
It is hard to compare the officiating in the two leagues with the difference in games and rules. There are so many nuances in the NFL rules that it would drive anyone batty trying to interpret or understand them. Those at the NFL seem to want to create the game at a boardroom level with the "rules committee" that it makes it hard to watch and likely play by the players. This is one reason why I largely prefer the Canadian game.

Not to mention the refs in this league aren’t making much money doing this. They do it because they love the game. We all get frustrated when there is a bad call, but people need to lighten up. I would say a majority of Riders fans don’t understand this.

I had a great time at the game last night. Atmosphere was something else, and I firmly believe those of us on Team Kelly have nothing to worry about regarding a boycott of the team.
Is it just me, or did Kelly attempt more 20+ yard balls down field last night than Dukes did in his first 8 starts? This offence is just going to get better and better every game. Welcome back to Coxie and Daniels too. Pretty easy to think they were no longer on the team in the first half of the season. Ungerer was amazing. Again, not to be a dead QB, but nice to have a QB that can reach the field side on regular basis.
Defence was amazing. I have been arguing with Adarius Pickett on twitter. I guess his ego can't admit that the defence this year is as good as it was last year. I guess he never thought that a good offence makes things easier for a defence. Secondary is picking it up too. Just like in 2022, they are getting better as they start to play regularly together.
Driving home, I listened to the Riders post game, hosted by Justin Dunk and Wes Cates. Dunk was really adding fuel to the fire asking every caller whether or not the rouge should be abolished. To their credit, most did not think so. At least unlike the last 2 games, it wasn't an all out assault on officials.
Sergio Castillo missed a FG in OT that wasn't returnable.... that gave Winnipeg the lead in the last Argos game before before the bye. Had the Argos not kicked a FG for the win, would the Dunks out there been asking for the Rouge to be abolished?

The cry-babying and excuse making when your homer team loses, I find sickening at times.

The last statement is so bang on. Even the TV crews calling the game often debate amongst themselves whether a play was PI or not. I have lost count of how many times they have tied themselves into knots trying to verbalize the arguments for or against the call on the field. Then factor in the Command Centre when they get involved. And it's not even from game to game, it's sometimes within the same game. It is a very difficult job to referee, especially at this level where everything moves so fast, but consistent officiating is critical, otherwise the league loses credibility.

I seems as though there is no clear direction for officials from the league, otherwise there would be clearer and more consistent decision making within the game and from game to game. Once again, this points towards the commissioner's office.

Honestly, just let the officials call it on the field in regard to penalties. Get rid of review on those, but keep it for all others. My real only complaint on the on field officials is that sometime they don’t have a feel for the game. Nothing worse than a defensive penalty for illegal contact when the QB never even looks in the direction the flag is thrown. I feel illegal contact should only be called on a hold or hands to the face. A bump down field? Let them play.

Someone needs to tell the in stadium entertainment people not to start their drum and “Let’s go Argos!” chant when Argos have the ball.
