Interesting - thanks for the link.
This American guy doing the interview is pretty typical for down there - know of the CFL and Canadian football, but very limited knowledge and mostly cliche stuff. This guy thinks Elgersma is going to be the #1 overall pick in the CFL draft ??? Somebody get him to put up some buck$ in a wager. He needs to learn of the deeply ingrained CFL bias/prejudice/ignorance towards Canadian trained QBs; surely he is aware of the NFL's similar bias towards black QBs in the past ?

I probably see Elgersma going 3rd or 4th round in the CFL draft.

Calgary just signed 2 new, raw to the CFL, American QBs.
The door or window for any of these Canadian / U Sports QBs (outside of Kurtis Rourke if he is ignored by the NFL) to get a legit CFL TC look is closing fast. Edmonton might be the only possible destination now, with a new Canadian HC and a Canadian already at starting QB.

John Hodge sees Taylor Elgersma going to Hamilton in the 2nd round. I would be stunned to see Hamilton draft or attempt to develop a Canadian Quarterback.

I'd like to know which of the 5 American QBs the Ticats currently have on their roster are going to be cut to make room for Elgersma to get real reps and TC looks ? Same goes for all CFL teams now with regards to bringing in one / any of these U Sports QBs for upcoming TCs.

I don't see a good fit for Elgersma in Hamilton. The best fit for him may be Toronto. He participated in the intern program with the Argos and was quite complimentary to QB coach Mike Miller for how much he learned from him. It could be a good competition with Dukes and the rookie they signed (whose name escapes me) for the #3 spot. Of course, he may get some NFL looks before actually going to the CFL.

I agree that the Argos would be the best place for Elgersma. Hopefully they can get him in the fourth round.

For what it's worth, Elgersma interned most recently with the Tiger-Cats. He might have developed a relationship with Milanovich as well.

Argos coulda drafted Tre Ford (took Gregor MacKellar instead - who lost his starter job and left for the EE).
Coulda re-signed Michael O'Connor (funny how he is able to suit up for Team Canada now but was a CFL write-off after playing for BC), but instead signed a couple of QBs from the lower levels of US college ball (Div III & NAIA ball); coulda also FA signed Mac's Andreas Dueck after his excellent passing stats career and fine East-West all-star game performance (Pinball was in attendance), right here in Ontario. Coulda signed one of the QBs from last year's CFL Combine.
I think the writing may be on the wall. Elgersma and some of these other U Sports star QBs can thank their lucky stars they got to participate in the CFL's Little Lebowksi intern program for Canadian QB achievers; hopefully a nice experience. A real chance to compete in a CFL TC? - nah, not quite yet.

In other QB news, combine participant, and formal McMaster QB Keegan Hall is going to York University for his 5th year to work on a masters program.
