2026 Training Camp
Wasn't sure if this required a new thread or not. Was able to attend Guelph yesterday to check out the practice. Dankwah was on the sideline with a knee brace doing some workouts with staff, he seemed to be walking well for what it's worth. Late in practice CB Benji Franklin went down with what appeared to be a serious lower leg injury, but after a brief stay on the trainers table was up walking around fine. WR Jake Herslow went down with what appeared to be a right hamstring injury. Coxie didn't participate for reasons I don't know, but Tyler Kahman looked good in his place. QB Chad Kelly was moving around great....his arm strength was quite noticeable.

Wonderful seeing you there yesterday.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 7:38 am Wasn't sure if this required a new thread or not. Was able to attend Guelph yesterday to check out the practice. Loved how smooth and efficient the 2+ hour session went. Coaches were active and the players were locked in.
Kelly looked in mid-season form, putting the ball in good spots throwing with or against the wind. Intern QBs don't get to do much, but Tristan Aboud from Guelph showed good size and a live arm. He's draft eligible in 2027.
The DBs all went crazy whenever a DB made a good play -- underrated part of camp. 3rd round pick Gauthier from Montreal looked really good.
Tons of good receivers in camp. Practice squad could be receiver heavy.
Peyton Logan and rookie Isaiah Smith looked good running and catching.
Hard to judge line play, but yesterday it looked to me like the d-line got the better of things.

Re: 2026 Training Camp
Thanks for the info on training camp. It's almost impossible to find any news about the Argos at training camp....or just in general for that matter.

Thanks Mike and to others able to provide these reports.
Very interesting to hear former EE first round draft pick Enock Makonzo has lined-up at starting safety; he was more a hybrid LB/DB in US college ball and started some at S-OLB as a rookie for the EE. Would he beat out Slywka for the starting job?

Pretty sure they are going Canadian at S.OV Argo wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 8:38 pm Thanks Mike and to others able to provide these reports.

Slywka was taking reps at SAM behind Pickett. Slywka can be a valuable player as a back up, because he can fill in on both offence and defence.
Re: 2026 Training Camp
Was at the rookie camp a few days ago and though not looking specifically at Duggan, we certainly did not see any reason why he wouldn't be in the competition for the #3 QB. Strange that he didn't go on to the main TC
Re: 2026 Training Camp
If they are going Canadian at S, and Judge is lock at W-OLB, and you'd think at least one of Kongbo or Shand or even Ojo could man a D-Line spot, that would mean 3 Nationals on D; then they would only need 4 on O - so 3 interior O-line plus just one receiver (Mital) possibly, with Ungerer as an experienced back-up / swing guy ? Like to hear how new Canadian receivers - draft pick Ulm and free agent Ready are looking at TC - if they are getting some real reps/looks.AngeloV wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 8:55 pmPretty sure they are going Canadian at S.OV Argo wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2026 8:38 pm Thanks Mike and to others able to provide these reports.

Mital and Ungerer will both be starters. I think they are going with 8 national starters.OV Argo wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2026 12:02 amIf they are going Canadian at S, and Judge is lock at W-OLB, and you'd think at least one of Kongbo or Shand or even Ojo could man a D-Line spot, that would mean 3 Nationals on D; then they would only need 4 on O - so 3 interior O-line plus just one receiver (Mital) possibly, with Ungerer as an experienced back-up / swing guy ? Having said that, Andre Miller looked really good at receiver, and with Herslow tweaking his hammy this early in camp, I think Miller definitely makes the team.
As Gil also pointed out, Tyler Kahmann was also very impressive. He put up ridiculous numbers, albeit at a small school, in college. over 2700 yards and 40td's the last 2 years. As for Canadian receivers, Ulm and Ready didn't really stand out to me, but Michael Monios looked good. He's just a tad on the smallish side, but as we know, that type of receiver has had success in this league a lot.
