It's honestly the best location going. In addition with GO Train station and future subway station. Have a train waiting there (or 2) after the game ends. One leaves 15 minutes after final whistle. Other one 30. And every 30 minute service on Lakeshore line now, means it makes much more sense
Downsview would be great, but it faces at least two big roadblocks. First, it's pretty close to York University, meaning there is already a new stadium in the neighbourhood. Second, the reason that hardly anything meaningful has been built at Downsview is that there's too many stakeholders. Getting something as controversial as a stadium built there would require clearing many and immense hurdles. Woodbine isn't nearly so accessible by TTC or GO, but at least all the land is in the hands of a private entity who have expressed a desire to partner on development, and it's an area that's been given tax breaks from the city for the purposes of redevelopment.
Sure I spent the first 40 years of my life in Mississauga and now there could be a stadium there. Haha. Hey I don't care just as long as it comes true. Having just bought a home near Peterborough I personally would hope for a stadium in Markham.
agree %100 and have said so for years... but i wouldn't count on the City of Toronto being anywhere near competitive enough to get the building over the likes of Markham and Mississauga who have been poaching businesses from TO for years.
would hate to see the Argos outside of the City proper (although for selfish reasons would love to have them closer to us east-905ers)... but would really hate them being in the far west-end.
