Re: Game Thread: Saskatchewan Roughriders @ Toronto Argonauts
Watching Nathan Rourke tonight reinforces my earlier comment about some misgivings concerning Kelly starting with only a few days practise. As much as you can criticize some of Glen Suitor's commentary, I think he nailed it on the head when he said that Rourke looked like someone who hasn't played in a game in over 600 days. I know it isn't completely the same, but Kelly has not played competitively since the East final. SSK is a solid team, and their Corey Mace led defence is going to want to make a statement. While Kelly has shown he is a gifted athlete, he has also shown he is immature and I have some concerns if he starts and tries pushing it too hard. The last thing we need is an inglorious or mistake-filled return for him.

You could be right, but I would imagine the two QB's have completely different mindsets right now and that could make all the difference.RB957 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:15 pm Watching Nathan Rourke tonight reinforces my earlier comment about some misgivings concerning Kelly starting with only a few days practise. Rourke settled to play for the Lions. Kelly has been motivated to get back to the Argos all season long.

Adeboboye and Cage were both limited in practice on Sunday while Mauger and Nield were full participants.

There must have been media. They only show up when there is negativity or non football related stories to discuss.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 1:05 amWas anyone at practice, even media, to check on if Kelly is the definite starter?
Make Clemons President!!!

Somebody (can't recall who exactly) said that Kelly took 70% of the reps at Sunday's practice.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 1:05 amWas anyone at practice, even media, to check on if Kelly is the definite starter?

I guess it’s safe to say McManis won’t be taken off the 6 game early since his name does not appear on the injury report. Too bad. Jones is good, but he’s no McManis. I was hoping the bye week would be enough to get him back on the game roster.

Sounds like Dinwiddie has the same concerns as he admitted after Monday's practice that Rourke's struggles on Sunday have affected how he plans to deploy Kelly against the Roughriders.RB957 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:15 pm Watching Nathan Rourke tonight reinforces my earlier comment about some misgivings concerning Kelly starting with only a few days practise. At least he has the precedent from Rourke that can frame his thinking moving forward as opposed to Kelly playing first.kellynjk wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 11:59 pmSounds like Dinwiddie has the same concerns as he admitted after Monday's practice that Rourke's struggles on Sunday have affected how he plans to deploy Kelly against the Roughriders.RB957 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:15 pm Watching Nathan Rourke tonight reinforces my earlier comment about some misgivings concerning Kelly starting with only a few days practise.
