Elks lose again

Re: Elks lose again
Starting to think MBT has a point on these short weeks. With a home and home just 5 days apart, this was easily the worst CFL game of the season.
Having said that, Bombers/Riders telling me to hold their beer at the half.

I disagree. The Elks and the Redblacks are two very awful teams and I don't believe they should be used as an example or a standard for anything right now.
I doubt MBT would have given the same post-game speech if the Elks won.

I wouldn’t call Ottawa awful at this time TBH.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 12:27 amI disagree. The Elks and the Redblacks are two very awful teams and I don't believe they should be used as an example or a standard for anything right now.

Has nothing to do with who won or lost. Competitively, it was the same as it was a home and home situation. There seemed to be a lot more stoppages in play for injuries than usual in the game, which was his point. Player safety.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 12:27 amI disagree. Re: Elks lose again
I would love someone to go through the NFL schedule and calculate how often every team, or any team for that matter, plays Sunday/Thursday. I would bet no team does it more than once a season, and some teams do it never. A lot of people who say MBT's complaint is hogwash argue that it happens in the NFL "all the time." Any given team doing it once a season, or never, is a lot different than some teams up here doing it two or three times a year.

MBT played on four days rest last year in a league with no bye weeks. Did he complain then? His team won that game.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 9:51 am I would love someone to go through the NFL schedule and calculate how often every team, or any team for that matter, plays Sunday/Thursday. Why did he wait until he lost to complain about the schedule? Did he not look at the schedule in advance? He had to know what he signed up for.

Re: Elks lose again
According to this schedule, every 2023 USFL game was played on Saturday or Sunday. So he (and every other player) always had six, seven, or eight days between games.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 11:15 am MBT played on four days rest last year in a league with no bye weeks. If you have evidence of a four-day break between games, I'd like to see it.
Re: Elks lose again
It did appear like there were more injured players during the game than normal, so I think MBT might have a point. A five day stretch between games doesn't give players much time to rest and recover and if the CFL is determined to have a double-header why not have it on Sunday, instead of Friday evening.AngeloV wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 9:27 amHas nothing to do with who won or lost. Re: Elks lose again
The Toronto/Hamilton game should have been played on Friday night and the Edmonton/Ottawa game on Saturday night, as long as the stadiums were available (and perhaps there was an issue with that).kellynjk wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 1:13 pmIt did appear like there were more injured players during the game than normal, so I think MBT might have a point. Re: Elks lose again
The teams that traditionally play on Thanksgiving likely get 2, but every other team once. Now Sunday-Thursday is definitely better than Sunday-Friday, and somehow BC is the only team that doesn’t do any 2 in 5 days this year (wonder if it has anything to do with them hosting the GC and the league helping them out—something the league would never admit to). But when you are a league that really needs to produce revenues, you do everything you can to make your partners happy.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 9:51 am I would love someone to go through the NFL schedule and calculate how often every team, or any team for that matter, plays Sunday/Thursday.
