Just what we don’t need in the front office — another hands-off legend pontificating from above the fray. I thought that was Pinball’s role. Does this blow the football ops budget again for next year?ARGO57 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 6:35 pm Another solid move adding John Hufnagel as a senior advisor, the guy knows how to run a successful organization.
As I’ve always said love that Pelley guy, what a visionary!!!

I got a good feeling about Miller, finally getting his shot at being a HC. I love that he’s been around the block a lot more than Dinwiddie, and seems to be less intense and more chill. Much less likely to call out his own players in an angry press conference, or to engage in a shouting match with opposition coaches during a game, as RD embarrassingly did this year. I’ll also bet Miller won’t choke on challenges and short-yardage decisions like his predecessor did so often.

Pleasantly surprised about the appointment of Hufnagel. Very interesting that he had left Calgary in the same capacity. It will be interesting to see his role with the team.
As for Miller, I like that he has close connections with Bill Cowher and Russ Grimm who are big proponents of line play and tough football. Even though we see Miller as somewhat of an innovator, hopefully we see some physicality and toughness restored to the o-line, which should translate to a better running game.

Hufnagel has a history of success in the CFL, glad to see the Argonauts bring him in.primetime321 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 9:31 pm Pleasantly surprised about the appointment of Hufnagel. I was very impressed with Miller’s press conference today, he seems very humble and I suspect very well respected within the CFL.
Miller represents a new vision for this organization which is welcomed in my books.

Here's a great interview by Dave Naylor with Mike Miller and Chad Kelly: https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/2025/12/02 ... e-to-grow/
We can put to rest those ridiculous rumours about the Argos trading Kelly to Ottawa or releasing him outright. Things seem to be tracking with Kelly being able to go by the start of the 2026 season.

And the idea that MLSE is intentionally trying to kill the team. For now. Hopefully.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 12:18 am Here's a great interview by Dave Naylor with Mike Miller and Chad Kelly: https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/2025/12/02 ... e-to-grow/

I personally don't believe MLSE is deliberately trying to kill the team. But I do believe they are expecting the Argos to be less of a drain on finances than was the case under Bell/Kilmer (at least through 2023). Which, if true, might explain the hollowing out of football ops and the Monson deal collapsing, and might be part of the reason Dinwiddie walked. Maybe the arrival of Hufnagel signals a loosening of the purse strings, but it's too early to know (and I doubt he's working anywhere near full-time). I imagine Miller is being paid less than Dinwiddie was, so some money might have shaken loose there. I'm very interested in seeing what assistants Miller is able to bring on board. Obviously we won't know what any of them get paid, but I hope the coaching group has lots of credible individuals and not just other team's (or our own) leftovers.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 3:01 pmAnd the idea that MLSE is intentionally trying to kill the team. I’ve never seen Chad look happier than he does here. I couldn’t help but wonder if he was actually happy to see RD go. Is it possible that some friction developed between the two last year?ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 12:18 am Here's a great interview by Dave Naylor with Mike Miller and Chad Kelly: https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/2025/12/02 ... e-to-grow/

I think we will see a combo of retained assistants and some new ones. Miller said something about reaching out to others in the league whom he likes/has respect for to see if they would be interested in joining him in Toronto.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 6:05 pmI personally don't believe MLSE is deliberately trying to kill the team. As I understand it (through 3downnation.com), all Argos assistants, with the exception of Jason Shivers, could be retained for 2026 or let go at the team's option, once Dinwiddie left. I am not a huge fan of Shivers as co-defensive coordinator but perhaps he could be an effective DBs coach, in addition to his player personnel duties. Shivers is reportedly the only one who has a set contract through 2026.
Re: Mike Miller is the new head coach for your Toronto Argos
I think Kelly had a good relationship with Dinwiddie but likely worked much more closely with Miller. When Miller was getting cancer treatment and unavailable for the latter part of the 2023 season and playoffs, that's when things fell apart for Kelly. I agree that he looked incredibly happy yesterday.RichK wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 7:13 pmI’ve never seen Chad look happier than he does here.
