I think that last season showed that McMahon as good as he is, isn't built to be an every down back. Hopefully Miyan Williams can bounce back from injury to at least compete for a starting job in camp. With the exception of William Stanback, all of the other free agents have been resigned (or about to be in AJ Ouellette) so other backs will have to be recruited down south. There are a couple who are very interesting on their neg listings, Damien Martinez and Cody Schrader, who is very similar to AJ Ouellette. Both were recently signed to NFL practice rosters but that might change in the off-season.
Has Greg Bell re-signed with Hamilton? I'd be interested in seeing him in camp here.
Pretty sure Greg Bell is a free agent.
Hopefully Barker and the crew bring in some serious training camp competition at RB.

With Kelly hopefully back healthy and ready to go in week one and Coxie, Polk, Brissett, Mital, Herslow, Ungerer, and hopefully Daniels back (I'd like to see his career end on his terms) as depth and veteran leadership this unit will enter the season under the radar but full of massive potential. 4 receivers could cross 1,000 yds - Coxie, Polk, Mital and Brissett and Kelly can be a 5,000 yard QB. Would love to bring back Kadeem Carey for training camp as well and give him sn opportunity to win his job back.
I don't know if Carey is the answer, didn't he get injured?, but I think it was evident that the Argos needed a bigger back. A bruiser type rather than a shifty RB as their everydown back.

There is always a plethora of available running backs. I believe that Chop Williams is still part of the answer, at least, at that position, but the run blocking in 2026 needs to return to the form of 2022-24. That's the biggest issue, in my view.

Running backs are "a dime a dozen" ? - Ravi, you been hanging out with Roy Shivers at the craps tables in Vegas ?
Williams flashed a bit of talent before he got hurt last season, but nothing special - he was no Leon McQuay or Gill the Thrill, that's for sure.
McMahon is a decent change of pace scat-back plus can do some return duties, but he's nothing special either.
I sure hope new HC Miller is not pencilling-in those 2 without real TC competition. Like the idea of a 2 back attack, thunder (big bruiser) & lightening (shifty, speedy smaller back) approach - give the D different looks and sometimes they can both be in.
Doubtful it happens, but the Argos could maybe draft the big 220 pound back from Windsor - Weagbe Mombo - who finished in the top 10 in U Sports rushing last year with an outstanding 9.1 yds/ carry average, plus is a Toronto native. The leading rusher there last season - Western's Ethan Dolby - i think may also be up this coming draft (?), but GOBs often write-off Western star RBs as just a product of their power run game system.

Agree on both counts Ravi. The O- Line was one of the biggest disappointments last year. It wasn’t just losing Allen, the OC really messed things up by moving guys around too much. It looked like the team had no real plan for the line, maybe RD spent too much time arguing with Murphy over GM matters and not enough time game planning.
In any case, the line was at its most dysfunctional earlier in the season, and Chop Williams’ production really suffered as a result. I still believe the Chopper has got what it takes to be a top CFL back, but I worry that the serious head injury he suffered last year could turn into a career-ender.
I think Spencer Brown deserves a chance to make the RB corps, he got better as the season went on, and his 43 receptions kept a lot of Arbuckle drives going. I’m disappointed to see Peny Boone didn’t stick around, a big-bodied RB prospect who sat on the PR and got zero chances to show what he could do in a game. Another coaching blunder from old what’s his name.
